Unity Power Factor
Thanks to the available components in the UPS and modern technology, the UPS can balance the phases between real power and apparent power.
Automatic Voltage Regulator
The automatic voltage regulator, for a stabilized and safe output voltage supply. Provides clean, consistent AC power by automatically regulating low voltages and over voltages (within defined tolerances).
Pure Sine Wave
Pure sine wave (Output) can improve the performance and efficiency of the connected equipment, or it will just let it work properly (prevent unexpected shutdowns and electronic-damaging stress).
Tower/ Rack
Rack models with this feature include a tower holder to place the rack in a upwards position. Almost all rack models with this feature can have their display rotated 90° to maintain the easy functionality and access of the LCD.
Battery Pack Available
If you are planning to extend the Backup Time of your UPS, please look for this Icon. UPS series with this icon have a series compatible battery pack (EBM) available.
Hot-Swappable
The Battery Packs of these models can be hot-swapped. Normally you should turn the UPS off when changing/ disconnecting EBMs. With this feature, UPS models can Plug & Play their Battery Packs.
Intelligent Slot
If the UPS has a Intelligent slot available, then the UPS can be connected with Management Cards that let the user monitor, manage and control a UPS or many UPS.
Dry Contacts
With a Dry Out Contact, you can get a signal out off the UPS and automate external devices with the outcoming signal (e.g. Battery Level Low). With a Dry In Contact, you can remotely turn the UPS on and off.
Emergency Power Off
With an EPO you can turn off the UPS. Please be aware that it works like an emergency stop switch, to turn the UPS on again, you have to manually turn the device on.
Generator Compatible
UPS Models with this feature wont shutdown unexpectedly because of the frequency fluctuaction created by the connected generator (this happens when the load is changing drastically).
RS-232
The RS-232 is a communication port. It may have additional usabilities but they are directly dependant to each UPS model.
Data Line Protection
The Data Line Protection Port gives you the option to protect your ethernet line from power surges. This can protect your Router for an example.
Circuit Breaker Reset
This feature will protect your UPS in case of an overload coming through your input. Once the switch jumps, it has to be manually pushed in for the UPS to work again.
Stronger Charger
The charger of this product is capable of charging larger batteries, for longer back-up times. Please consult your sales representative to find the most suitable battery pack and battery configuration.
Programmable Segment
If you want to give a segment more priority (more backup time), then this segment can be set to only have surge protection. This helps you organize and prioritize your loads.
Hidden Dry Contacts
Behind the RS-232 pins, their is the option to use them as dry contacts. The dry contacts are predefined and cannot be changed. The different signals can be checked in the UPS manual.
REPO
This has the same function of an EPO, but it also has the option to work as a RPO (Remote Power Off). You can remotely turn the UPS on and off. The method may vary from UPS to UPS.
Lightweight & Compact
Products with this icon are normally Lithium-Ion based technologies (eg. Battery Packs). Lithium-Ion has a higher energy-density and its lighter than lead based products.
Low-Depth
UPS with this feature have a low depth within the same series (higher models have a normal depth). Some rack systems have limited size and depth and cannot house normal sized UPS.
Cable Retention
UPS with cable retention offer a mechanical protection to better secure the cables or wires plugged into the back of the UPS. The mechanism can vary, and sometimes it will still need some additional cable ties.
Overload Protection
Products with this icon, have a Overload Protection. This means that the UPS/ Inverter can withstand overloads for a period of time before shutting down or going to bypass.
Energy Saving Function
This product features our new Energy Saving Function which activates automatically when the batteries are fully charged (fully charged and at least 8 hours in Line-Mode). The own power consumption will significantly be reduced. This is achieved be selectively powering only essential components. When a disturbance is detected, the UPS will react normally, and transfer times will not be affected.
App Available
This product features its own mobile application. Usually the application can do so much as the Monitoring Software, but mobile and remotely (not always). This lets the user monitor all specifications.
ESS Compatible
This product is suitable to work with our LiFe Battery System, or Energy Storage System (ESS). This system is modular and is appropiate for fast charging requirements.
Solar Features
PV Charging Supported
Inverters with this feature are compatible with photovoltaic inputs coming from a solar panel. This energy can then be used to charge your battery system that is connected.
MPPT Charger Technology
This type of charger allows for more flexibility when configurating and planning your solar system. The MPPT charger is more efficient and stable under non-constant sunlighting in comparison to other technologies, like PWM.
High-Photovoltaic Power
This product has a high maximal PV peak power, which lets the inverter be connected with a high number of solar panels. You will have enough power to supply both your own consumption and to store energy in the battery system.
Battery Independence
This product can work without a connected battery system (Battery mode will be not available if a battery system is not connected).
IoT Features
OBM
The Optimized Battery Management extends the Battery Life by up to 50%. When a certain charge threshold is reached, it goes into sleep mode and shuts down the charging module.
EBM - Auto Detection
The automatic detection of external battery modules (EBM) allows you to plug & play battery packs without having to manually configure the UPS settings.
WLAN-Dongle Port
One of the two forms of internet connectivity of the IoT UPS series. This Port lets you connect to the internet with help of the WLAN-Dongle. No cables needed.
Ethernet Port
One of the two forms of internet connectivity of the IoT UPS series. This port lets you connect to the internet with an ethernet cable connection. Plug & Play. Just remember to activate the IoT Option on your UPS.
Advanced Features
External Batterybanks
UPS with this feature have stronger chargers. They can be configured to charge external battery banks (non-series Battery Packs) which would be impossible for a normal charger.
Dual Input
A dual input lets you have the bypass input power source completely separated from the main source. This way you have two different power sources that can feed your UPS.
Parallel Connectivity
UPS models with this feature can extend their power capabilities by connecting devices from the same model in parallel. You can also choose to drastically lower the failure probability of your whole UPS system, by having a redundant connected unit.
Touch-Screen
The configuration of a UPS system (normally three-phase UPS) can get difficult. That is why many advanced UPS devices come (or have the option) with a touch-screen that will simplify the setup of the same.
Potential Equalization Screw
The purpose of additional potential equalization is to equalize potentials between different metal parts (e.g. casing, housings, EBMs, etc.) that can be touched simultaneously, or to reduce differences of potential.
Earthing System
An earthing system connects the electric power system with the ground for safety and functional purposes. It may also play a role in the protection against fault currents.
Maintanance Bypass Switch
With the help of a MBS you can redirect the power supply in case of a necessary or planed maintanance on the UPS. The MBS will safely feed the loads from the same power source or from a second one (dual input).
Breakers
An electrical safety device designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by an overcurrent or short circuit. Unlike a fuse, which operates once and then must be replaced, a circuit breaker can be reset.
Port Types
USB Type A
USB Type-A connectors are extremely common. Some office and house related UPS are equipped with this chargers to supply charging power to the users peripherals.
